Mariner Report: Week of October 17, 2016

Men's Cross Country

Spencer Boonstra led the Mariners to a seventh place finish at the State of Maine Championships, as the fifth NAC runner to cross the finish line. Maine Maritime will be off until Saturday, October 29, when they return to action at the NAC Championship.

Women's Cross Country

Jessica Faltings led the Mariners to a seventh place finish at the State of Maine Championships. Maine Maritime will be off until Saturday, October 29, when they return to action at the NAC Championship.

Golf

Erich Klopfer led Maine Maritime to a fifth place finish at the NAC Championship over the weekend, Klopfer finished 11th overall. The Mariners conclude their fall competition and will return to action on the spring in a handful of tournament.

On Tuesday, Klopfer was named to the All-NAC Second Team, teammate Luke Olson grabbed NAC Golf Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year Honors and Chase Whittemore was named to the NAC Sportsmanship Team. Read that release HERE.

Men's Soccer

Maine Maritime went 0-2 this week, falling to Colby-Sawyer on Saturday and Bates College on Sunday. Maine Maritime hosts UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday at 7:30 pm, Green Mountain on Saturday at 3:30 pm for Senior Day and Castleton on Sunday at 2:20 pm to wrap up regular season play.

Historically, the Mariners are 9-40-10 all time against the Beavers, 7-1 all-time against the Eagles and 2-13-2 all-time against Castleton. Last season, the Mariners tied 1-1 with the Beavers, won their seventh-straight against the Eagles and fell to Castleton 2-1.

Women's Soccer

Maine Maritime went 1-1 this past week, picking up a 2-1 overtime win over Gordon on Monday, on a game-winner from Emily Wyman. On Saturday, the Mariners fell to Colby-Sawyer 3-2. Maine Maritime hosts UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday at 5:00 pm, Green Mountain on Saturday for Senior Day at 1:00 pm and Castleton on Sunday at 12:00 pm to wrap up regular season play.

Historically, the Mariners are 2-16-2 against the Beavers, 5-3-1 against the Eagles and 1-15-12 all-time against Castleton. Last season, the Mariners tied 1-1 with the Beavers, won their fourth-straight against the Eagles, and fell to Castleton 2-0.

Volleyball

Maine Maritime went 3-0 last week, including wins over Green Mountain and Castleton to improve to a perfect 5-0 in the NAC. The Mariners travel to Bates College on Tuesday at 7:00 pm, before heading to New Hampshire this weekend to take on Maine-Presque Isle and Husson University on Saturday, starting at 12:00 pm.

Earlier this season the Mariners defeated Bates College 3-2, and Husson University 3-0. Historically, the Mariners are 4-7 all-time against the Bobcats, 21-1 against UMPI and 23-9 against Husson.
