CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy volleyball’s Jessica D’Auria (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) was named the North Atlantic Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week and golf’s Connor Mersch (Holderness, N.H.) was named the NAC Golf Rookie of the Week.
NAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week – Jessica D’Auria
D'Auria continued her impressive start for the Mariners, leading the team to a 2-3 week against five tough non-conference opponents. The freshman outside hitter tallied double-digit kills in each match this week, and has done so in all eight matches for the Mariners this season.
This week D'Auria totaled 52 kills (2.74 k/s), 34 digs (1.79 d/s), 13 aces (0.68 sa/s), three assists and one block. In the Mariners' 3-2 win over Colby, the freshman led the team with 14 kills, while adding seven digs and four aces. Against the 2016 GNAC Champions Johnson & Wales, she led the team once again with 11 kills, and added five digs and one block. Against Gordon College, D'Auria tallied 11 kills, eight digs and added a career-high five aces.

NAC Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week – Connor Mersch
Mersch had an impressive first week for the Mariners, leading the team in the John Queenan Memorial Tournament hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday. The rookie was the overall top finisher for the Mariners, leading the way with a 75 to finish second overall out of 40 golfers on the par 72 course. On Saturday, Mersch finished second overall at the Mariners' dual match with UMaine-Presque Isle, carding an 80 (+8).
