NEW YORK, N.Y. – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Hunter College 97-55 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Hunter Sportsplex.
With the loss the Mariners fall to 0-10 on the season, while the Hawks improve to 5-5 overall. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday, January 2 at Curry College at 6:00 pm.
The Hawks shot 62.9 percent from the floor and connected on 10 three-pointers to take a 57-27 edge into halftime. Hunter held onto the lead throughout the second half and picked up the victory.
Nicholas DePatsy (Waldoboro, Maine) led the Mariners with 12 points, on four three-pointers, five rebounds, and a steal, while Nick Judge (Cushing, Maine) added 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal and Adam Richardson (Bradley, Maine) added seven points, four rebounds, two blocks and an assist.
Danny Fusco led Hunter College with 20 points, four assists, three steals and a rebound, and Matt Stroud and Blendi Ibraj each added 11 points, two rebounds and two steals. Abraham Rosow and Matt Franks contributed 10 points apiece.
The Mariners held a narrow 34-33 edge in rebounds, but the Hawks shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the floor while the Mariners shot 37 percent.
