FARMINGTON, Maine – Sophomore Joseph Moir (Bangor, Maine) led Maine Maritime Academy golf to a sixth place finish out of seven teams, with a team score of 333, at Wednesday's UMF Invitational.
Moir finished in an 11th place tie out of 39 golfers with a 77 (+7) for the round, while freshman Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) tied for 24th place with an 82. Karson Eaton (Mapleton, Maine) finished 29th with a 86, Chase Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) finished 31st with an 88 and Logan Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine) tied for 32nd place with an 89.
Saint Joseph's College of Maine took the victory with a team score of 299, edging the host UMF by one stroke. The University of Southern Maine claimed the third spot and Husson University took home fourth place.
Southern Maine's Tom Murray claimed the individual victory, carding a par 70.
The Mariners return to action this weekend at the Maine Collegiate Championship, hosted at the Springbrook Country Club in Leeds, Maine.
