BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy golf finished tied for sixth place after the two-day Husson Invitational at the Bangor Municipal Golf course, with a team score of 638 (+86).
The Mariners cut 16 strokes off their team score (327) and jumped up two spots from day one, to finish with a team score of 311 on day two.
Sophomore Joseph Moir (Bangor, Maine) shot the low score for the Mariners, carding an 80 on the first day, and a career-low 75 on day two, to finish tied for 12th place overall.
Chase Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) and Chance Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) tied for 21st place, shooting 159 (+21). Dylan Birmingham (Brewer, Maine) placed 36th with a 169 (+31) and Brayden Finn (Highland Park, Ill.) carded a 172 (+34) to finish tied for 39th.
Husson University claimed the team victory, with a two-day score of 601 (+49), followed by Endicott College (606) and UMass Dartmouth (619).
UMass Darmouth's Jackson Mitchell and Husson's Taylor Marong finished with identical scores of 147 (+9).
The Mariners return to action on Thursday, October 6 when they host the Mariner Invitational at the Augusta Country Club.
