Erich Klopfer shot a career-best 72 (+1) on day two of the Maine State Golf Association Collegiate Championships to lead Maine Maritime Academy golf to a ninth place team finish.
Maine Maritime Academy golf finished tied for sixth place after the two-day Husson Invitational at the Bangor Municipal Golf course, with a team score of 638 (+86). The Mariners cut 16 strokes off their team score (327) and jumped up two spots from day one, to finish with a team score of 311 on day two.
Joseph Moir shot the low score for the Mariners, carding an 80 on the first day, and a career-low 75 on day two, to finish tied for 12th place overall.
Maine Maritime Academy golf shot 321 on day two of the North Atlantic Conference Championship to take fifth place overall among the eight teams, with a combined score of 641 at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
Erich Klopfer shot two strokes lower on day two (76) to place 11th overall (154 +12). Joseph Moir placed 20th (77, 80). Chance Whittemore finished 24th, cutting four strokes off his total from day one, to shoot an 80 on day two.
Maine Maritime Academy's sophomore Erich Klopfer has been named to the All-North Atlantic Conference Second Team, while teammate Luke Olson has been named the NAC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year and junior Chase Whittemore has been named to the NAC Sportsmanship Team.
The Mariners competed in three spring tournament this season, first at the McDaniel Spring Invitational, and then at the Hampton Inn Invitational and the JWU Wildcat Spring Invitational.
Luke Olson was named to the NAC Fall All-Academic Team after earning NAC Golf Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year honors.
