Series History: The Mariners are 8-5 all-time against the Eagles in a rivalry that dates back to 1998. 

Last Meeting: Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse sailed to a 17-8 victory over Husson University last season on April 26, 2016.

Husson opened up the scoring at 10:45 into the first quarter on an unassisted strike from Brandon Corbo, but the Mariners responded with four-straight, led by a pair of goals from Brendan Broderick, to make it 4-1. The Eagles scored two goals in the final minute of the game to cut the deficit to 4-3.

Broderick tallied his third of the game with 7:05 remaining in the second quarter on an assist from Michael Dedian, to make it 5-3. The teams exchanged goals to finish out the first half, as the Mariners took a 6-4 lead into halftime.

Brett Martin scored back-to-back goals for the Eagles to open up the third quarter, tying the game at 6-6 at 12:32, but the Mariners found their rhythm and outscored Husson 11-2 to close out the game and claim the victory.

Broderick finished the evening with six goals and two assists, while Michael Martel tallied a hat trick and dished out an assist, and Dean Samuelson (Southbury, Conn.), Tim Grant and Chase Whittemore (Skowhegan, Maine) grabbed two goals apiece. Alex Grant-Roy (Biddeford, Maine) and Alec Grant (Hollis, N.H.) scored one goal, while Dedian led the Mariners with four caused turnovers and Cody Schell scooped up a team-high seven ground balls and recorded 10 saves in the victory in net.

Brett Martin led the Eagles with a hat trick, while Derek Driscoll chipped in with two goals. Vinny Visconti led Husson with four caused turnovers, Chad Merrill led the team with nine ground balls and Matt Martin tallied eight saves in net, in the loss.

Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse fell to New England College, 21-3 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Don Melander Field.

Chase Whittemore put the Mariner son the board at 8:56 but the Pilgrims scored 17-unanswered goals to take a 17-1 lead into the third quarter. Maine Maritime's Dean Samuelson added a goal in the third quarter while teammate Alex Grant-Roy scored in the final minutes of the game, but the Pilgrims hung on for the 21-3 victory.

Whittemore, Samuelson and Grant-Roy led the Mariners' offense with goals, while Whittemore, Tyler County (Auburn, Maine) and Alec Grant  scooped up two ground balls and Grant led the Mariners with two caused turnovers.

Matt Richard led the Pilgrims with seven goals, and 10 assists while also scooping up a ground ball and causing a turnover. Sean Largay recorded a hat trick, Connor Fries led NEC with 11 ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

In net, Daniel Lee (Satellite Beach, Fla.) recorded 16 saves in the loss for the Mariners, and Daniel Tibbrine earned in the win in net for NEC with four saves in 30 minutes of play.

Husson University's Last Game: Husson defeated Johnson State 20-1 on Sunday.

The Eagles were led by Zach Glazier and Jacob Boothby who together scored 13 of Husson's 20 goals. Glazier recorded eight scores to go along with two assists while Boothby added five goals of his own.

Husson's Nick Zavorotny had four saves in net, while Travis Brown tallied 17 saves in net for Johnson State. 

The Mariners: After 11 games, the Mariners average 6.92 goals and 30.5 shots per game, while allowing opponents to score 14.33 goals per game. The Mariners average 13 percent on man-up opportunities, 39 percent from the faceoff circle and 69.2 percent on clear opportunities.

Chase Whittemore leads the Mariners with 19 goals, and Alex Grant-Roy leads the team with 16 assists. George Doe (Kennebunkport, Maine) leads the Mariners with 56 ground balls and Nikko Pappas (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) leads the team with 20 caused turnovers. In net, Daniel Lee has 81 saves, for a 41.3 save percentage.

The Eagles: After 11 games, the Eagles average 9.91 goals and 37.2 shots per game, while allowing opponents to score 13.82 goals per game. The team averages 29.2 percent on man-up chances, 42.9 percent from the faceoff circle and 72.8 percent on clear attempts. 

Jacob Boothby leads the Eagles with 31 goals, Zach Glazier leads the team with 20 assists and 52 ground balls and Chad Merrill leads the team with 24 caused turnovers. In net, Nick Zavorotny leads the team with 87 saves for a 44.4 save percentage and teammate Matt Martin has 54 saves and a 55.7 save percentage.
