Cooper Named to All-NAC Second Team; Maxwell Named to Sportsmanship Team

CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy's Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) has been named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Second Team and senior captain Morgan Maxwell (Windham, Maine) has been named to the NAC Women's Lacrosse Sportsmanship Team for the second year in a row.

Cooper, an International Business & Logistics major, led the Mariners with 37 goals and eight assists while also leading the team and the entire conference with 17 free position goals. Against conference opponents, the senior midfielder tallied 26 goals, 10 free position goals and eight assists and was named the NAC Player of the Week on March 20. This season, Cooper broke numerous Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse records including single-game records in points (8), goals (7), assists (4) and free position goals (4). Cooper also holds six single-season records; points (45), goals (37), shots (84), shots on goal (61), down goals (2) and free position goals (17). In two seasons with the Mariners, Cooper is now the all-time career leader in points (49), goals (41), down goals (3), and free position goals (17).

Maxwell, a Marine Biology major and two-year team captain, earned the start in all 12 games this season and tallied 12 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and two draw controls. Maxwell also shares the Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse record for games played (39). The NAC Women's Lacrosse Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the lacrosse culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the playing rules and etiquette.
