CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer defeated the University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday night, 3-0 in North Atlantic Conference action on Ritchie Field.
Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) picked up her fourth goal of the season in the 11th minute when teammate Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) found her in front of the net. Doiron shook off her defender and snuck the ball into net past UMF's keeper Kiana Thompson.
Caitlin Paradis (Ashland, Maine) came up big for the Mariners on the other end, when she blocked Katelyn MacGregor's shot, keeping the Mariners' lead at 1-0.
The Mariners added their second goal in the 44th minute when Olivia Paquette (Waterboro, Maine) earned her second goal of the season, on an assist from Kelsea Anair (Richmond, Maine) sending the Mariners into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
The Beavers held a narrow 15-13 lead in shots, but the Mariners held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) collected four saves in net in the victory, securing the team's fifth shutout of the season. Thompson stopped two shots in net for the Beavers, in the loss.
The Mariners improve to 7-6-1 overall and 4-3 in the NAC, while the Beavers fall to 7-6-1 on the season and 5-2 in the conference. Maine Maritime returns to action Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when they host Green Mountain College for Senior Day.
