CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Morgan Libby (Brunswick, Maine) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year.

Libby is the first-ever Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer player to be named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year. The senior and her back line posted the second-lowest goals allowed (6) and goals against average (0.67) in North Atlantic Conference games. The 2015 and 2016 NAC Defensive Player of the Year and 2016 NAC Player of the Year was instrumental in helping Maine Maritime concede less than one goal per game on average and record the second-most shutouts (5) in conference action this season.

Impressively, Libby and her teammates allowed just four or less shots on goal in six of MMA's nine conference games. The two-year captain also chipped in on offense, netting five goals and recording two assists.

Libby joined sophomore Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.) on the ECAC Division III New England All-Star First Team.

Lewis led the Mariners and the NAC this season with 12 goals and 29 points during the regular season. The sophomore midfielder recorded five assists, while tallying six goals and two assists against conference opponents. In the first round of the ECAC Championship tournament, Lewis net the game-tying goal against Salve Regina, in the Mariners' 2-1 win.
