CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Morgan Libby (Brunswick, Maine) has been named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division III All-New England First Team.
Libby received the most votes among midfielders in the voting. Libby, who became the North Atlantic Conference's (NAC) first-ever women's soccer student-athlete to be named Player & Defensive Player of the Year in the same season, was recently named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Year, to go along with an ECAC New England All-Star First Team selection and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Women's All-New England Third Team nod.
The senior and her back line posted the second-lowest goals allowed (6) and goals against average (0.67) in NAC games. The 2015 and 2016 NAC Defensive Player of the Year and 2016 NAC Player of the Year was instrumental in helping Maine Maritime concede less than one goal per game on average and record the second-most shutouts (5) in conference action this season. Impressively, Libby and her teammates allowed just four or less shots on goal in six of MMA's nine conference games. The two-year captain also chipped in on offense, netting five goals and recording two assists.
