CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Morgan Libby (Brunswick, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Year, the NAC Defensive Player of the Year and to the NAC First Team All-Conference. Sophomores Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calif.) and Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.) joined Libby on the All-NAC First Team for the second-straight year, while junior Kylie Bradley (Westborough, Mass.) was named to the All-NAC Second Team and Sportsmanship team.
Libby has had another strong season as a Mariner and is the first-ever NAC women's soccer player to earn both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. The senior and her back line posted the second-lowest goals allowed (6) and goals against average (0.67) in conference games, helping lead her team to the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NAC Tournament. The 2015 NAC Defensive Player of the Year was instrumental in helping Maine Maritime concede less than one goal per game on average and record the second-most shutouts (5) in conference action this season. Impressively, Libby and her teammates allowed just four or less shots on goal in six of MMA's nine conference games. The two-year captain also chipped in on offense, netting three goals and recording two assists against NAC opponents. She started in all 16 of Maine Maritime's games this season and has played 51 total games for the Mariners, tallying eight goals, four game-winners, and four assists.
DeFrank earned the start in all 16 games this season and tallied four goals, including the game winner against Johnson State. The sophomore midfielder recorded four assists, all against conference teams.
Lewis led the Mariners and the NAC this season with 12 goals and 29 points. The sophomore midfielder recorded five assists, while tallying six goals and two assists against conference opponents. In the Mariners final game of the season, Lewis tallied the game-winner in overtime to lift the Mariners to a 1-0 win over Castleton to clinch the #4 seed.
Bradley was an instrumental member of the Mariner defense, earning the start in all 15 games she has appeared in. Bradley, a team captain, dished out an assist this season and has been named to the NAC Sportsmanship team for the second-straight season.
