Women's Soccer Falls to Smith College, 2-0

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer fell to Smith College, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Pioneers got on the board in the 15th minute on an unassisted goal from Kenza Mdarhri-Alaoui, and added an insurance goal in the 57th minute to pick up the 2-0 victory over the Mariners in just the second meeting between the two teams.

Junior Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calif.) and senior Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) led the Mariners with two shots apiece. 

Freshman goalie Emily Conway (Charleston, S.C.) recorded 13 saves in the loss for the Mariners, while Smith's Shelby Hall stopped all four shots she faced in the victory.

Smith held a 24-6 advantage in shots as well as a 6-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

The Mariners fall to 1-3 overall, while Smith College improves to 3-1. Maine Maritime returns to action tomorrow, at 12:00 pm against Westfield State.
