BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country finished seventh out of 10 teams on Saturday at the University of New England Invitational.
The Mariners combined for a team score of 234, and were led by junior Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) who finished 75th out of 130 runners with a time of 24:15.4 on the 5k course. Freshman Olivia Smith (Skowhegan, Maine) placed 85th, followed by sophomore Abigail L'Abbé (Topsham, Maine) in 86th. Senior Charlette Bradley (Slidell, La.) finished 96th just ahead of junior Julia Dillon (Norway, Maine) in 97th to round out the top five finishers for the Mariners.
The Nor'easters claimed the team victory with a score or 44 and Endicott's Julianna Wesley was the top finisher with a time of 19:40.
The Mariners return to action next weekend at the UMass.-Dartmouth Invitational. That race is set to kick off at 11:15 am on Saturday, September 16.
