AUBURN, Maine--On Saturday, the Maine Maritime Academy men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2024 Maine State Championships held here at Roy's Disc Golf. The Mariners were seventh in the men's race with 189 points, while the women placed eighth with 238.

Senior Ponce Saltysiak led the Maine Maritime men's side with a 31st-place showing out of 109 individuals, finishing the 8-kilometer course with a clocking of 27 minutes and 25.7 seconds.

Meanwhile, sophomore Sophie Sabet paced the MAA women in 60th place out of 86 runners in a 6k time of 29:32.7.

Maine Maritime is back in action next Saturday at the Thomas College Terrier Invitational, with the women set for a 4k at 10 a.m. and the men will conduct a 6k an hour later.
