Tell us about yourself: I grew up in Farmington, Maine and graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a Bachelor's in Outdoor Recreation Business Adminstration in 2014. I got my start in coaching as an Assistant Varsity/Head JV Coach at Mt. Blue High School and as an Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach at UMF. After a couple seasons I went on to get my Master's Degree in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University in 2018. While working on my Master's Degree I worked at Iowa Lakes Community College as an Athletic Director Graduate Assistant. After working at Iowa Lakes I got an opportunity to be the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in the spring of 2019. In August 2019 I accepted the position as the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at MMA; which has been one of my dream jobs since I got into coaching, because of the unique environment and the reputation of Maine Maritime Academy's degree. Outside of work I love the great outdoors and you can find me hiking, fishing, golfing, kayaking, skiing or just enjoying everything Maine has to offer.
Favorite Aspect of Campus: Besides Ritchie Field? I'd have to say the proximity to the ocean. Growing up in Maine I always loved coming to Downeast for vacation each summer and to now work within walking distance of the water is like a dream come true.
Favorite moment while working at MMA (so far): Well it's been a short time since I started working here but I enjoyed watching the success our student-athletes have had on the the field and the court this past fall and winter, especially women's soccer and volleyball winning NAC Championships. Seeing that gives me motivation to go to work every single day to build our men's lacrosse program into that caliber of a program. From a lacrosse perspective our season was cut short but to have such a successful start to the season was a sign that even in the short time with this group we were able to build something that can and will be great for years to come. I cannot wait until Spring 2021!
Fun Facts: I've both played and coached against the Mariners on Ritchie Field. I enjoy all New England sports (Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics). I love vegetable gardens and cannot wait to have a my own personal land to grow one on. I am a board game enthusiast. While it's not a "fun" fact, but instead an unique fact about me; I have broken both of my front teeth multiple times.
Do you have pets?: I don't personally have pets but my family has a cat named Zoey who is about eight years old.
Strangest item on display in your office: I am still filling up my office and wanted to make a good first impression so I don't have many strange items but just recently had a current men's lacrosse player store a homemade fat head in my office which is currently displayed for all to see and we'll keep it around until next year where we can break it back out.
Favorite Color: Blue
Best Advice you ever received from a mentor: Focus on winning the day each day. If you focus on doing something better than you did yesterday and putting in at least 1% effort to get better each day then you will see significant improvements to who you are and you will in turn "WIN THE DAY!"
