Castine,
Maine - The Lady Mariner Volleyball team hosted the University of
Maine at Presque Isle and earned two victories on Saturday in
non-conference action. With the two victories MMA improves to 15-2
on the season. UMPI has a record of 12-4.
Match 1 scores were 25-23, 25-12, 25-17. Chelsea Ward
(Homer, AK) led the Mariner offense with 15 kills while Lauren Sakahara
(Bellevue, WA) led the defense with 19 digs. Amy Young (Cumberland,
ME) contributed 8 kills while Jenn Dixon (Woodstock, MD) recorded
30 assists and 3 service aces.
In
the second match of the day MMA prevailed 25-22, 25-23, 25-16. The
Mariners had a balanced offensive attack with Amy Young chipping in
12 kills, Chelsea Ward adding 6 and Heather Moore
(Macedon, NY) contributing 6. Lauren Sakahara had 11 digs and Kayley
Rodriguez (Quincy, IL) added 9. Jenn Dixon continued her
excellent play dishing out 23 assists and serving 5 aces.
The Lady Mariners will be in action again on Wednesday night as
they take on Unity College at home at 7pm.
