Stahl leads MMA to victory

Mass.—Jessica Stahl
(Bowdoin, ME) finished with a game-high 18 points for Maine
Maritime (3-4), leading the Lady Mariners to 74-58 victory over
Framingham State (3-4). With the win, MMA won the consolation game
of the Park Lodge Tournament Sunday afternoon.
Joining Stahl was joined in double figures by Amethyst Cousins
(Bass Harbor, ME) with 12 points while Casey McCloskey (Howland,
ME) and Brittany Hunt
(Hickory, NC) each added 11 points. Stahl shot 78 percent from the
field (7-of-9), and was a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line
on the day. Cousins was 5-of-6 from the floor (83 percent), while
McCloskey and Hunt were a combined 5 for 8 from the three point
line.
The Rams Kia Minor finished with a team high 17 points while Jill
Jones chipped in with 13. Maine Maritime controlled the game from
the opening tap and never trailed in the contest. Sam Goda (Eliot,
ME) gathered 9 rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament
Team.
MMA out-shot the Rams, shooting better than 47 percent from the
floor, compared to Framingham State's 42 percent.
Maine Maritime held a 16 point halftime lead after scoring 43
first half points. The Mariners opened the second half with a 5
point surge that gave them a 21 point lead. The Rams got the
deficit to 8 points late in the second half but MMA went on a 6-0
run to put the game away.
