Volleyball team hosted The Husson University Eagles for a
conference match-up Wednesday evening at Margaret Smith Gymnasium.
MMA won the match 3-0 behind the trio of Chelsea Ward
(Homer, AK), Amy Young (Cumberland, ME), and Jennifer Dixon
(Woodstock, MD).
With
the win Katrina Dagan recorded her 100th career
victory as the head coach of the Lady Mariner volleyball program.
Dagan is in her 7th season as the programs head
coach with her first win coming on September 16, 2003 against Unity
College. Her career record is 100-52 for a .657 winning
percentage.
The
Lady Mariners beat the Eagles by the score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-13,
and 25-23). Sophomore middle hitter Chelsea Ward had another
outstanding night for MMA collecting 16 kills and 7 digs. Jenn
Dixon orchestrated the offense once again with 28 assists, 3 kills,
4 aces, and 4 digs. Senior captain Amy Young continued her stellar
play, smashing 10 kills and gathering 6 digs.
Maya
Vysokikh (Novoskbirsk, Russia) paced Husson with 8 kills while
freshman middle hitter Hannah Olstad (Farmington, NH) collected 6
kills and 2 aces. Senior setter Marion Kish (Wallingford, CT) led
the Eagles with 13 assists in the match and libero Michelle Smith
(New Boston, NH) led Husson with 11 digs.
MMA
cruised through the first two games of the night (25-18 &
25-13) but the Eagles jumped out in game three 9-0. MMA began to
crawl back into game and eventually over came the 9-point deficit
to defeat the Eagles by the slim margin of 25-23. The win improved
MMA's record to 11-2 on the year and 3-0 in the NAC while the
Huskies drop to 5-9 on the season and 2-1 in the NAC.
