Lady Mariners defeat Thomas 86-74

Waterville, Maine— The Lady Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy defeated the Terriers from Thomas College 86-74 at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium on Tuesday night in North Atlantic Conference action. MMA improved to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the NAC while Thomas drops to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in the NAC.

The Lady Mariners were led by Amethyst Cousins (Bass Harbor, ME) and Sam Goda (Eliot, ME), each scoring 19 points in the win.  Cousins also added a game high 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals for the Lady Mariners. Alexis Bennett (Freedom, ME) had a season and career high 11 points while Casey Everest (Portland, ME) added eight points. MMA out rebounded the Terriers by 12 and while 17 of the 37 total rebounds were offensive. MMA shot 50% from the floor and had a season high 34 field goals.

The Terriers' leading scorer was Karin Bird (Lee, ME) who had 20 points and was followed up by Mallorie Blakney (Fairfield, ME) who had 19.  Jessica Nassetta (Standish, ME) also added 16 points while shooting 8-10 from the field.
