Maine --- The Maine Maritime Women's Basketball team got past
Johnson State 61-49 in a North Atlantic Conference game Saturday at
Margaret Smith Chase Gymnasium. The Lady Mariners got scoring from
12 different players en route to their fifth NAC win of the
year.
The
Lady Mariners had a 17-point lead at the half, limiting the Badgers
to 15 points and only seven field goals. Johnson State responded in
the second half out scoring the Lady Mariners 34-29 and shot 47%
from the floor but could not overcome a 55-21 disparity on the
boards.
MMA
improves to 10-8 overall and moves to 5-2 in the NAC while the
Badgers slip to 6-12 overall and 3-4 in the NAC.
Amethyst
Cousins led the Lady Mariners with 14 points while collecting
nine rebounds and three assists. Maggie Smith (Bath,
ME) scored eight points while Sam Goda (Eliot, ME) chipped in seven
points for MMA. Jessica Stahl
(Bowdoin, ME) played great defense while grabbing a career high 12
rebounds.
Claudia
Martineau (Washington, VT) led the Badgers with 12 points and
grabbed nine rebounds and two steals while Kristine Tatro (Eden,
VT) also scored 12 points and snatched five rebounds. Jennifer
Ferrari (Westfield, MA) added seven points and Chantelle Locke
(Waterville, VT) chipped in six points.
