MMA uses 26-11 second half rebounding advantage to earn NAC
win
JOHNSON,
Vt. (February 12, 2010) – Johnson State College could not
overcome a 51-34 rebounding disadvantage as they fell to Maine
Maritime Academy in women's North Atlantic Conference (NAC)
basketball action on Friday night 69-48. The Badgers fall to 7-15
overall and 4-7 in the NAC while MMA is now 13-9, 8-3 in the
NAC.
The
Mariners were paced by Sam Goda (Eliot, Maine) and her 16-point,
12-rebound effort while Amethyst Cousins
(Bass Harbor, Maine) also notched a double-double with 12 points
and 10 rebounds.
Johnson
received 11 points from freshman Maria Gleason (Enosburg Falls,
Vt./Enosburg) while getting eight points each from Jennifer Ferrari
(Westfield, Mass./Westfield), Claudia Martineau (Washington,
Vt./Spaulding), and Christine Tatro (Eden, Vt./Lamoille Union).
The
Badgers trailed 31-24 at the half and only had two less rebounds
than the Mariners but a 26-11 domination of the glass sparked the
visitors to the victory.
Johnson
will host Husson University on Saturday at 2:00 pm on Senior Day
during which they will see Claudia Martineau play in her final
regular season home game for JSC. MMA will travel to play Lyndon
State with tip set for 2:00 pm also.
