Castleton drops Mariners 66-46

Castine, Maine --- The Castleton State College Men's basketball team used a balanced offensive attack and solid defense to take home a victory Friday night as they defeated Maine Maritime Academy 66-46 in a North Atlantic Conference match up. The Spartans had four players reach double figures en route to their 10th NAC win of the season.

With the win Castleton improved to 16-8 overall and 10-3 in the conference, while the Mariners drop to 6-18 overall and 2-11 in the Conference.

Castleton led by 30-21 at the half and outscored MMA by 11 points in the second stanza to run away with the win. The Spartans shot 59% from the floor and dished out 21 assists in the game while holding the Mariners to 38% shooting and just 10 helpers.

Junior Mike Knight (Moultonborough, NH) led the visitors with 13 points, including 6-for-8 from the floor while Jared Paul (Tampa, FL), Mark Comstock (Rutland, VT), and Derick Faragon (Schenectady, NY) each chipped in with 11 points. Comstock had a team high 7 rebounds while Greg Hughes (West Rutland, VT) handed out a game high 6 assists.

Freshman Ben Russell (Farmington, ME) led the Mariners with 13 points while Sophomore Shawn Dostie (Bowdoinham, ME) chipped in with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and a game high 3 blocks.
