Castine, Maine - The Lady Mariner Volleyball team went undefeated in their three matches during Mariner Classic Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. The United States Merchant Marine Academy finished the tournament at 2-1 while the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers finished at 1-2. SUNY Maritime College went 0-3 over the course of the tournament.

On Sunday, the Lady Mariners beat the USMMA Mariners 3-2 (25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, and 15-11) in a tightly fought match. Chelsea Ward (Homer, AK) led MMA with 22 kills and 11 digs while Melissa Lail (Elizabeth, CO) added 11 kills. Jenn Dixon (Woodstock, MD) had a season high 42 assists while libero Lauren Sakahara (Bellevue, WA) led the Lady Mariners with 29 digs.

Julie Flaherty (West Islip, NY) led King's Point with 13 kills while Jessica Tyack (Lake Isabella, CA) added 10. Jenna Palaschak (Annandale, VA) led the team with 28 assists while Ana Fuschetto (Swink, CO) collected 22 digs.

In the second match of the day, King's Point beat Mass Maritime 3-0 (25-7, 25-9, and 25-11). Julie Flaherty once again led the Mariners with eight kills while Michelle Daneu (Malabar, FL) collected six. Palaschak tallied 20 assists and nine aces to lead the team.

Massachusetts Maritime was led by Kelly Lyon's (Pocasset, MA) four kills, while Allison Condino (Fitchburg, MA) collected eight assists in the loss. Suzanne Marino (Kings Park, NY) led the team with seven digs.

The third match of the day featured the Merchant Marine Academy against SUNY Maritime College. The Mariners won the match in convincing fashion 3-0 (25-14, 25-6, and 25-16). Michelle Daneu led the way with 12 kills while Ana Fuschetto sparked the offense with 23 assists.

The final match of the afternoon had the Lady Mariners from Maine Maritime up against the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers. MMA won the match 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, and 25-13), improving to 5-5 on the season. Chelsea Ward paced MMA with 11 kills while Melissa Lail finished with nine. Kayley Ridriguez (Quincy, IL) played well in the win, collecting seven kills and six aces. The Buccaneers were led by Victoria Presutti (Marshfield, MA), who collected five kills.
