Mariners Sweep NAC Matches

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy and Husson University both swept Castleton State and Green Mountain in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Volleyball quadrangular. The Mariners improved to 14-2 (-0 NAC) with its 12th and 13th 3-0 sweeps of the season, while Husson upped its mark to 14-3 (2-0 NAC). Castleton slipped to 0-12 (0-2 NAC), and Green Mountain dropped to 3-8 (0-2 NAC).

Jennifer Dixon (Ellicott City, Md.) served up 10 aces and assisted 23 kills to lead Maine Maritime past Castleton State in the opener. The Mariners recorded 16 aces in the 25-11, 25-3, 25-3 victory. Chelsea Ward (Homer, Alaska) recorded nine kills and four aces. Making her first start of the season, Chantal Adderly (Nassau, Bahamas) posted six kills for MMA. Castleton got three kills from Paige Lacey (Westerly, R.I.). Alyssa Sherman (Argyle, N.Y.) and Ruth Tomlinson (Huntington Vt.) each came up with a pair of assists.

Chelsea Ward led the offense with nine kills and churned up five digs to lead Maine Maritime to a 25-9, 25-6, 25-8 win over Green Mountain. Sydney Robertson (Barnstead, N.H.) posted seven kills, eight aces, a solo block, and three assisted blocks for the Mariners. Jennifer Dixon assisted 27 kills to turn in 50 on the weekend. Kara Egan (Breezy Point, N.Y.) posted three kills, while Jennifer Seredjko (Greenfield, Mass.) had four assists.

Hannah Olstad (Farmington, N.H.) posted 13 kills, a dozen aces and a pair of blocks to lead Husson past Green Mountain 25-13, 25-14, 25-12.  Chelly Smith (New Boston, N.H.) chimed in with four kills and as many aces. She had a team-high, six digs. Madison Wage (Cheshire, Conn.) led Green Mountain's offense with six kills. Natasha Kacoroski (Kirkland, Wash.) dug her team out a dozen times.

Hannah Olstad led the Husson charge in the 25-19, 25-9, 25-9 sweep of Castleton. She put up nine kills, five aces, and four digs. Aleta Johnson (Milton, N.H.) had 14 assists and five aces for the Eagles. Husson served up 22 aces in the win. Page Lacey's four kills paced Castleton, while Sarah Wheeler (Kinderhook, N.Y.) served up four aces.
