Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – Freshman Jenna Bostwick (Pemnbroke, Mass.) scored two goals and added an assist to lead six different Spartans in the scoring column as Castleton State College defeated Maine Maritime Academy 7-0 in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.
Courtney Chadburn (North Clarendon, Vt.) started the scoring just 3:32 into the contest, converting her 15th goal of the season on a penalty kick after a Mariner hand-ball in the box.
Four minutes later Chadburn set up Brynn Campbell (North Clarendon, Vt.) for her second goal of the season. The senior striker played the ball back from the left side of the goal to Campbell who was waiting just outside the box and whistled it past the dive of Mariner goalie Taylor O'Malley (Middletown, R.I.). Chadburn, who became the all-time leading goal-scorer in Castleton history a day ago, inched closer to yet another milestone as she sits just two points away from being the first player in Castleton history with 200 career points.
Bostwick (Pembroke, Mass.) made it 3-0 in the 13th minute, potting her second goal of the season off a Sarah Ethier (Portsmouth, R.I.) helper. Classmate Kayla Rogers (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished off the first-half scoring slicing through the Mariner defense to receive a Stephanie Bull (Milton, Vt.) cross for her second marker of the season.
Bostwick accounted for the first two goals of the second half, setting up Hilary Cooke (Marlborough, Conn.) for her 11th goal of the season in the 62nd minute, and converting another Ethier assist in the 67th minute.
Bull finished off the scoring, potting her first collegiate goal off a Hannah Corkum (Manchester, Vt.) assist.
O'Malley made 14 saves as the Mariners remain winless at 0-12, 0-7.
Castleton goalie Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) earned the easy chair shutout, making two saves in the win.
Castleton upped its overall record to 12-4 and remain unbeaten in conference play at 7-0. The Spartans are now unbeaten in their last 24 regular season conference contests (23-0-1), and have outscored their opponents 99-2 over that span.
The Mariners return to action Wednesday night against Thomas College.
