Rams Shutout Mariners

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham set four school records in a 56-0 win over Maine Maritime in a New England Football Conference Bogan Division game Saturday. The Rams improved to 4-0 in the Bogan Division, 6-1 overall while the Mariners dropped to 0-5, 0-6.

FSU set a new school record for points in a game with 56, surpassing the old record of 53 which was set a year ago and for largest margin of victory. The Rams also established a new single season shutout mark with three and a new mark for consecutive victories in a single season with six.

Matt Mangano (Winchester, Mass.) got things started with a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, after the Mariners went three-and-out on their first possession. Mangano finished with three touchdowns. After a second Maine Maritime three-and-out, FSUquarterback Matt Silva ((Dracut, Mass.) found Randall Kelleher (Swampscott, Mass.) on a post-pattern for 62 yards to give the Rams a 15-0 lead. Silva finished 16 of 19 passing, 330 yards and three scores. His other two touchdowns came on a nine-yard strike to Alex Avery (Milford, Mass.) and seven-yard toss to Phil Clain (Swampscott, Mass.) to give the Rams a 35-0 halftime lead.

Melikke Van Alstyne scored on two runs, of one and five, in the second half and Mangano hit paydirt on a 16-yard run for FSU.

Mariners' quarterback Michael Fahey (Union, NY) rushed for 97 yards on 28 carries and fullback Dylan Webster (Belfast, ME) had 35 yards on nine carries.

MMA will look for its first win of the season next weekend hosting Massachusetts Maritime for the 40th Annual Admiral's Cup. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
