Mariners Earn Draw Against Thomas

Box Score

WATERVILLE, MAINE- Maine Maritime played Thomas to 1-1 tie Wednesday in a North Atlantic Conference game. The Mariners now sit at 5-8-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the NAC while the Terriers stand at 4-10-1, 1-6-1.

Maine Maritime struck first when Cassandra Lafontaine (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) received a pass from Sarah Brochu (Hardwick, Vt.) and put it past the keeper in the 11th minute for the early lead.

The lead would remain at 1-0 until the 41st minute when Jillian Lambert (Dayton, Maine)

received the ball from Kajsa Kaufeldt (Uppsala, Sweden) and buried it to left side for the tying goal. After a scoreless second half that featured some tough defensive play on both sides that limited shot opportunities, the two teams then maxed out two overtimes of scoreless play.

Mairners' goalie

Taylor O'Malley (Middletown, R.I.) stopped two shots as did Thomas' Kate Thibodeau.

The Mariners wrap up the regular season Saturday hosting New England College at 5 p.m.
