Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Katherine Ferland tallied a hat trick and an assist to lead Maine-Fort Kent to a 5-1 win at Maine Maritime Tuesday afternoon. Theresa Biggs netted the other pair for the 6-0 Bengals. Maine Maritime slid to 2-5 on the year.
Ferland got the Bengals on the board with an unassisted marker early in the 24th minute. Biggs bounced in the next pair, getting help on the game-winner from Ferland, 6:07 after lighting the Bengals lit the board the first time. Biggs' second gave the Bengals a 3-0 lead at the break. Ferland dumped in her final pair of the evening in the second half.
Fort Kent fired 28 shots to Maine Maritime's five. Mariners' keeper, Kelsie Hilton (Monmouth, Maine) turned aside 10. The Mariners broke up the Bengals shutout bid in the 90th minute when Annie Koensgen (Placitas, N.M.) headed home a Dani Holt (Portland, Maine) serve on a corner kick. The goal was Koensgen's eighth of the season.
Maine Maritime returns to action on Saturday at Husson.
