WATERVILLE, Maine -- Maine Maritime finished ninth at the State of Maine Women's Cross Country Championship Saturday at Colby College.
Bates won the 10-team race with five runners in the top 10. Colby placed two in the top five to earn second followed by Bowdoin, Southern Maine, Husson, St. Joseph's, Maine-Farmington, Maine-Presque Isle, MMA and Thomas.
Bowdoin's Lucy Skinner paced the field of 121 by finishing the 5-kilometer course in 19:00.80.
Jessica Faltings led the Mariners with a 78th finish in 24:11.10. Emily Fanning (25:23.60), Caroline Martin (25:52.40), Alice Stenquist (28:47.60) and Catherine Bailey (28:48.10) all scored for Maine Maritime.
The Mariners return to the course Saturday hosting the Mariner Invitational at Bucksport High School.
