CASTINE, Maine -- Colby College shutout Maine Maritime 3-0 in a non-conference women's volleyball match Tuesday. The Mules improved to 10-11, while the Mariners dropped to 16-9.

Maine Maritime honored seniors Chantal Adderly, Melissa Lail and Ariel Knights.

Colby won 25-19, 25-17 and 25-23.

Karolina Serha paced the Mules attack with a match-high nine kills. Natalie Roy tallied 14 digs for Colby and Sarah Arvidson picked up 10. Kate Pleasants recorded three aces and 19 assists for the Mules.

Lail led the Mariners attack with seven kills and Gillian O'Neal and Sydney Robertson each added five. Samantha Tumolo picked up 19 assists and three aces and Betsy Trenckmann and O'Neal shared a team-high with 12 digs.

The Mariners jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first set, and led 11-9, before the Mules rallied to take a 20-14 lead. Maine Maritime managed to get within five, 20-15, before Colby took the next five of nine points to lead the match 1-0.

Colby led 3-0 early in the second set and never trailed en route to taking a 2-0 lead.

After evening the third set at 2-2, Colby managed a slim 9-7 advantage on the next 16 points to lead 11-9. The Mules led 20-16 before Maine Maritime rallied with a 5-1 scoring run to tie the set at 21-21, and led 22-21 on a Lail kill, before Colby scored four of the next five points to win the set and the match.

Maine Maritime returns to action Wednesday hosting Maine-Machias at 7 p.m.
