CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime shutout Maine-Machias 3-0 Wednesday in a non-conference women's volleyball match. The Mariners finished the regular season at 17-9, while the Clippers dropped to 9-17.

Maine Maritime won 25-12, 25-11 and 25-11.

The Mariners, already the Division III leaders in aces per set, picked up 18 aces during the match. Melissa Lail posted a match-high five aces, Jess Menges added four and Coronado Hickman and Gillian O'Neal three each. Molly Marcotte added a pair and Samantha Tumolo had one.

O'Neal paced Maine Maritime's attack with eight kills on an impressive .412 hitting percentage. Sydney Robertson picked up seven kills and Marcotte finished with six. O'Neal added four digs, Samantha Ryan three and Tumolo and Betsy Trenckmann posted 17 and 11 assists.

Hailey Lacey led the Clippers with four kills and Heather Leonard posted five digs.

The Mariners return to action Nov. 8 in the North Atlantic Conference semifinals against the winner of Saturday's quarterfinal match featuring Lyndon and Castleton.
