WATERVILLE, Maine -- Matt Methot won his first race this season by topping the field of 72 runners at the Colby Invitational Saturday. Methot cruised through the five-kilometer course, which is also the site of the next week's State of Maine Championship, in 28:46.
It was Methot's fourth top five finish this season.
Colby placed four runners in the top 10 to win the meet. The Mariners finished second followed by Thomas, Maine-Presque Isle and Husson.
Vijay Kataria, who finished 13th at Colby last season, placed seventh in 29:33. George Morrison (30:12) was 13th, Cameron Roy (30:58) finished 20th and Chase Reidelbach (31:21) was 22nd.
