WATERVILLE, Maine – Matt Methot's second place finish propelled Maine Maritime to fourth at the North Atlantic Conference Championship Sunday at Thomas College.
Lyndon State won its fifth championship in six years with four of the top six finishers. Colby-Sawyer was runner-up with 80 points, Castleton tallied 84 points to come in third, Maine Maritime Academy was a close fourth with 90, while University of Maine at Farmington rounded out the top five with 132 points. New England College took sixth at 162 and Johnson State was right behind them at 196, followed by Thomas with 199 points. Husson and Green Mountain rounded out the field at 216 and 271 respectively.
Methot finished the 8K course in 28:03.61. He was 21 seconds behind Lyndon's Kyle Powers (27:42). It was Methot's fourth top three finish of his career and second runner-up finish. Methot had also won the championship and placed third.
Vijay Kataria was 17th in 30:38.02 just ahead of teammate George Morrison, who crossed in 30:54.01 to take 18th. Chase Reidelbach placed 23rd in 31:31.13, Wyatt LaPage was 31st in 32:05.46.
The Mariners return to action Saturday at the ECAC Championship.
