Mariners, Eagles Deadlock

CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime and Husson University played 110 minutes of scoreless action in a North Atlantic Conference women's soccer game Wednesday. Both teams had two shots on goal in the extra period but Eagles' goalie Jess Poulin and Mariners' keeper Taylor O'Malley stood tall to keep the contest scoreless. 

Maine Maritime went to 1-4-2 overall, 0-0-1 in the standings, while the Eagles stand at 2-4-1, 0-0-1.

After scoreless regulation play, Maine Maritime fired off three shots in a three minute span in the first overtime. Briana Obshatkin was stopped by Poulin at 94:23 before Poulin got her mitts on a Sarah Brochu ball 36 seconds later. Annie Koensgen shot was wide at 97:54.

Husson, too, was able fire off quality shots in the second overtime. Hannah Clough was stopped by O'Malley in the 103rd minute and MJ Boyce's shot in the 107th minute was grabbed by O'Malley.

The Mariners finished with 10 shots and Poulin ended the match with four saves. The Eagles fired 23 shots and O'Malley stopped 10 shots.

Maine Maritime returns to the pitch Wednesday hosting Thomas at 7:30 p.m.
