Box Score 2 PORTLAND, Maine -- Maine Maritime dropped a pair of non-conference women's volleyball matches Saturday, which snapped a five-match winning streak. The Mariners (6-6 overall) fell to Eastern Connecticut 3-1 and to Southern Maine 3-1.
Maine Maritime won the first set against East Conn. 25-19 before dropping the next three, 25-22, 25-9, 25-16.
Melissa Lail and Gillian O'Neal led the Mariners attack with eight kills each. Lail added three aces and 12 digs, while Samantha Tumolo posted 22 assists. Betsy Trenckmann, Jess Menges and O'Neal all recorded nine digs for MMA.
Adrianna Mihalek led East Conn. with 12 kills and 15 digs.
Southern Maine took the first set 25-22 before the Mariners evened the match with a 25-17 win in set two. The Huskies edged MMA, 25-19 and 25-22, in the final two sets.
Lail, again, led the Mariners attack with a match-high 18 kills. Sydney Robertson and O'Neal added 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Tumolo notched a match-high 42 assists, while Trenckmann and O'Neal had 12 and 11 digs.
Amanda Keppel recorded 17 kills and had 18 digs to lead Southern Maine.
The Mariners return to the court Thursday, 6 p.m., at Maine-Presque Isle.
