BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Maine Maritime finished 10th at the Bowdoin College Invitational Saturday. Tufts, ranked 24th in the country, won the 10-team event with five runners in the top six.
Emily Fanning, running in her first 6K course of the season, led the Mariners with an 89th place finish. She ran the flat, fast course in 28:15.06. Tufts' Olivia Beltrani was the fastest runner out of 124 with a 22:40.26.
Bowdoin, Bates, Colby-Sawyer and Husson finished two through five in the team race.
Caroline Martin was 106th with 29:56.55 for Maine Maritime. Catherine Bailey took 116th in 31:28.22, Elin Sonesson was 118th with 32:27.20 and Alice Stenquist placed 122 with 33:50.65.
The Mariners return to action Saturday at the Colby Invitational.
