Badgers Edge Mariners

Box Score

JOHNSON, Vt. – Shannon Grier's third goal of the season was all of the offense as Johnson State's women's soccer team handed Maine Maritime a 1-0 setback in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Saturday afternoon.

Johnson improved to 7-2-0 (2-0 NAC), while Maine Maritime slipped to 2-6 (0-2 NAC).

The game went scoreless for 30 minutes with the majority of the action in the middle of the pitch. Johnson got a break when Grier picked up a loose ball in traffic in front of the net and touched it in.

The Mariners were able to hold Johnson to that only goal, creating chances up top as the second half wore on. Ultimately, the Badgers held on to their slim lead, finishing the game 1-0 in regulation time.

Senior goalkeeper, Amber McCullock made twelve saves picking up her sixth win of the season. Maine Maritime's Kelsie Hilton (Monmouth, Maine) was saddled with the loss despite her six saves.

Maine Maritime returns to action tomorrow when the Mariners head to Lyndon State for a NAC tilt.
