Box Score 2 WATERVILLE, Maine --- Volleyball fell to a pair of non-conference opponents on Saturday afternoon. In the first match the Mariners fell to Colby College 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-15, 25-13), in the latter match of the day the Mariners fell 3-2 (25-13, 25-17, 15-25, 23-25, 15-6) to Gordon College.
Colby College 3 – Maine Maritime 1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-15, 25-13)
Against Colby, Gillian O'Neal had 12 kills and Sydney Robertson finished with 10 kills for the Mariners. Betsy Trenckmann had 22 assists and 11 digs for MMA (0-4 overall).
Serhan and fellow middle hitter Kim Donaldson each had 15 kills in the victory over the Mariners. Serhan led the way in blocks with nine and Donaldson finished with five blocks, as did Alexa Busser. First-year setter Emily Moslener dished 34 assists, while Sarah Arvidson paced the Mules in defensive digs (14). Elizabeth Noyes finished with nine kills and 11 digs.
Gordon College 3 – Maine Maritime 2 (25-13, 25-17, 15-25, 23-25, 15-6)
Jenna Labbadia had 14 kills and Fighting Scot teammate Laura Schmidt had nine kills. Joy Kimmel had 35 assists and four aces, while Maggie Rimsa led the way in digs with 37.
O'Neal led MMA with nine kills and Molly Marcotte had eight kills against Gordon.
The Mariners will return to action next Saturday when they will travel to Lasell College to face both Lasell and Wentworth.
