Badeen Leads Mariners Past Terriers with Career-High Outing

CASTINE, Maine – Mary Badeen (Newport, Maine) scored a career-high 32 points to lead Maine Maritime to a 66-45 victory over Thomas College on Tuesday night inside of Smith Gymnasium.

The Mariners came back from an early 7-2 deficit to take a commanding 22-11 lead, sparked by 13 points from Badeen, and took a 29-17 lead into the half.

Mackenzie Vosburgh (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) splashed a three-pointer to open up the scoring in the second half as the Mariners continued to stretch their lead, claiming the 66-45 win to improve to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the NAC. With the loss the Terriers fall to 1-12 and 0-7.

Badeen added eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals while Vosburgh finished the night with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal off the bench, and Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) added six points, five rebounds and a game-best seven assists. 

Ashleigh Gagne led the Terriers with a double-double worthy 10 points and 15 rebounds. Tess McClenahan added nine points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Maine Maritime will hit the road this weekend when they travel to New England College on Friday, and Colby-Sawyer on Saturday for a pair of conference matchups.
