POULTNEY, Vt. – Green Mountain College defeated Maine Maritime Academy, 78-62, in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action on Friday evening at the Eagle Dome.

The Mariners came out strong, building a 10-6 lead early in the game but the Eagles responded with a 13-2 run, eventually taking a 30-22 lead into the half.

Tyler Gilson (Thomaston, Maine) made a pair of free throws to lead off the second half and close the deficit to six points, but the Eagles slowly increased their lead throughout the half and led by as many as 22 points on their way to victory.

Tyler Thayer led the Mariners (2-16, 1-10 NAC) with 18 points, two assists, a rebound and a steal, while Jason Hatch (Islesboro, Maine) tallied 17 points, six rebounds, and a block off the bench. Gilson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds while adding nine points and Dylan Price (Madison, Maine) dished out four assists, four points and a steal.

Green Mountain (6-10, 6-5 NAC) had four scorers in double figures led by Boo Agee and Diante Warner who each had 15 points. Cameron Anderson notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Javier Lugris scored 11 points.

The Mariners travel to Castleton tomorrow for another North Atlantic Conference game at 1:00 p.m.
