Box Score CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer defeated Maine-Machias on Tuesday night, 1-0, in non-conference action at Ritchie Field.
After the Mariners dominated possession in the first half, Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) broke the scoreless battle in the 36th minute. Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) played a ball up to Wyman, drawing Clipper keeper Aisling Farragher-Gemma out of net. Wyman's shot beat Farragher-Gemma to the lower right corner of the net, making it 1-0 in favor of the Mariners.
The Mariners logged 14 shots in the first half alone, and added 13 more in the second half.
Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) picked up her fifth shutout in net for the Mariners, while Farragher-Gemma recorded 15 saves in the loss for the Clippers.
Maine Maritime improves to 6-6-1 overall, and pick up their first win over Maine-Machias in the last four matchups. The Mariners travel to New England College on Saturday, October 17 for a North Atlantic Conference matchup.
