Last Meeting: The two teams met last season on October 4. Endicott came away with the 45-28 victory.
Running back Jacob Doolan (Fairfield, Maine) collected 219 yards and two touchdowns by ground and 102 yards and a touchdown by air. While quarterback Michael Fahey (Union, Conn.) ran for 142 yards and threw for 141 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
Defensively the Mariners were led by Jeddy Doyon (Hampden, Maine) who recorded 12 tackles, seven of which were solo, Johnny Weymouth (Windham, Maine) and Collin Joyce (Westbrook, Maine) recorded 11 tackles. Joyce also picked up a forced fumble, and a broken up pass.
Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy forced a fumble on Western New England's first possession and answered with a 5-play 54 yard drive to start the game, but the Golden Bears scored 30 points in the third quarter to take a 58-35 New England Football Conference victory over the Mariners last Saturday afternoon.
Offensively the Mariners amassed 361 rushing yards and 146 passing yards for 507 yards of offense, and the defense grabbed a sack, a fumble recovery and an interception in the effort.
James Ferrar (Cumberland, Maine) led the Mariners with 133 rushing yards on 11 carries, and senior quarterback Michael Fahey amassed 84 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns on land and 77 yards and a touchdown in the air.
Cody Chapman (Bangor, Maine) led the Mariner defense with 12 tackles (6 solo), while Jeddy Doyon added 10 tackles (5 solo) and a pass breakup that was almost an interception. Matt Clifford (Kittery, Maine) forced a fumble, and grabbed and interception returned for 20 yards, and Lovely recovered a fumble.
Endicott College's Last Game: The Gull's enter Saturday's game after suffering a 40-21 NEFC loss to Salve Regina last Saturday.
Endicott quarterback Sam Ouellette went 16-for-26 to total 162 passing yards. Spencer Walsh and Johari Johnson led the rushing attack with 32 yards each, and Jake Pelletier grabbed 68 receiving yards on five catches. Defensively, William Rivera led the way for Endicott with nine tackles (seven solo), and one interception for 34 yards.
The Mariners: Michael Fahey leads the Mariners with 439 passing yards on 23 completions, and four touchdowns. On the ground, Fahey also leads the team with 496 yards on 117 carries and six touchdowns. James Ferrar has 443 rushing yards on 81 carries and a touchdown, including a long-run of 71 yards. Jordan Susi (South Portland, Maine) leads Maine Maritime with 160 receiving yards on eight receptions, and a touchdown, while Derek Breunig (Westbrook, Maine) has 157 receiving yards on seven receptions, including three touchdowns.
Defensively, Jeddy Doyon paces the Mariners with 40 total tackles, including 19 solo stops, 1.5 tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and a broken up pass. Cody Chapman has 38 tackles, 19 solo, 1.5 sacks, 4.5 tackles for a loss and one broken up pass. Justin Lovely (West Gardiner, Maine) leads the team with two interceptions, while Michael Burgess (North Yarmouth, Maine) leads the team with eight tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries, two sacks and two blocks.
The Mariners average 344.4 rushing yards per game, 101.6 passing yards per game, and 24.4 points per game, while allowing opponents to score an average of 40.2 points per game.
The Gulls: Sam Ouellette leads the team with 833 passing yards on 75 completions and seven touchdowns, while Jake Pelletier has 30 receptions totaling 390 yards and four touchdowns. Spencer Walsh leads the team in rushing yards with 243 yards on 56 carries, and teammate Johari Johnson has 241 yards on 55 carries and two touchdowns.
William Rivera leads the team with 49 tackles, including 33 solo, two interceptions, 1.5 tackles for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble. Craig Anderson leads the team with 7.5 tackles for a loss, including 7 sacks.
The Gulls average 118.2 rushing yards per game, 190.7 passing yards per game and 21 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 30.8 points per game.
NCAA Rankings: The Mariners are ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III in Rushing offense with 344.4 rushing yards per game. The team also ranks 13th in time of possession and 43rd in total offense.
Career Firsts: Last week Matt Clifford grabbed his first-career interception, returning it for 20 yards.
Corey Creeger (Biddeford, Maine) tossed his first-career touchdown in last week's game, a 32-yard score to Derek Breunig.
Kaleb Brown (Norridgewock, Maine) ran for his first-career touchdown, a five yarder in the fourth quarter.
Honor Roll: Michael Fahey was named to the New England Football Conference Offensive Honor Roll following the game against Western New England. Fahey grabbed 77 yards on four completions and 84 yards on 15 rushes and two touchdowns.
