Game Notes: Men's Basketball Travels to New York to take on SUNY Maritime and Merchant Marine

Saturday's Game: Maine Maritime Academy (0-1) at SUNY Maritime (0-1), Riesenberg Gymnasium, 3:00 p.m., Throggs Neck, N.Y.

*Please note the game was originally scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m., but has now been moved to 3:00 p.m.

Sunday's Game: Maine Maritime Academy at Merchant Marine (0-1), Liebertz Gymnasium, 2:00 p.m., Kings Point, N.Y.

Series History: The Privateers hold a 3-1 record over the Mariners, in a rivalry that dates back to 1996.

This is the first-ever meeting between Maine Maritime Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Last Meeting: The Last time Maine Maritime took on SUNY Maritime was on November 22, 2008 in Vallejo, California. The Privateers claimed the 63-57 victory.

Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: The Mariners fell to Southern Maine last Saturday, in their season opener.

Brendan Newcomb (Holden, Maine) tallied a career-high 19 points, while adding four rebounds and a steal. Tyler Thayer (Hermon, Maine) recorded nine points, four rebounds and a steal and Dylan Stevens (Wells, Maine) tallied eight points, three rebounds and two steals.

SUNY Maritime's Last Game: The Privateers opened up their 2015-16 season with an 80-60 loss to the Centenary (N.J.) Cyclones on Saturday.

Brendon Halligan led SUNY Maritime with 19 points in a career-high 37 minutes of play. John Liccese added 15 points, while Patrick MacDonald recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Merchant Marine's Last Game: The Mariners lost to Stony Brook, 103-32 on Saturday.

Andrew Williams led the way for Merchant Marine with seven points, while classmate Scott Dennin added six points and tied for the team high with six rebounds. Junior Hunter Jones contributed six points and classmate Matt Miller brought down a team-high six rebounds on the night.

SUNY and Merchant Marine will faceoff on Friday night, before both teams take on Maine Maritime.

The Mariners: After only one game this season, the Mariners are shooting 38 percent from the floor, 22.7 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 43.8 percent from the line. Maine Maritime recorded 50 points, 26 rebounds and 10 assists in their season opener.

The Privateers: SUNY shot 41.4 percent from the floor in their season opener, 26.1 percent from three-point land and 50 percent from the line. The Privateers tallied 60 points in their only game this season, 32 rebounds and 13 assists.

The USMMA Mariners: In Merchant Marine's lone game of the season the Mariners scored 32 points, gathered 31 boards and dished out four assists. The team shot 21.4 percent from the floor, 9.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the line. Andrew Williams leads the team with seven points this season
