Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball fell to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday afternoon, 75-55 in non-conference action inside of Smith Gymnasium.
The Monks held a 42-18 lead at the half, highlighted by a 20-6 run in the second quarter and 12 points from Kelsi McNamara.
The Mariners kept fighting, holding the Monks to just 33.3 percent shooting in the fourth quarter, and outscored Saint Joseph's 37-33 in the final two quarters, but the Monks held on for the win.
Reigning North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) erupted with 20 points in the final two quarters to lead the Mariners with a total of 22 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal, while Bekah Campbell (Corinth, Maine) added six points off the bench and two boards and Tess Clark (Spring, Texas) added five points and three rebounds. Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) led all players with four assists, while pulling down three boards.
McNamara ended the afternoon with 15 points, two steals and a rebound, while Morgan Cahill also tallied 15 points. Cahill pulled down a game-high six rebounds, and dished out three assists.
Maine Maritime (1-2) will open up North Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday, December 1 when they host Thomas College at 5:30 p.m. The Monks (3-1) will travel to Maine-Farmington on Monday, November 23.
