HENNIKER, N.H. – Maine Maritime Academy women's cross country placed 3rd out of six teams on Sunday at the 5th Annual Mayflower Kickoff Event hosted by New England College.
Freshman Nerissa Larrabee (Caribou, Maine) finished 9th out of 64 runners to lead the Mariners on the 5k course with a time of 21:41. Julia Dillon (South Paris, Maine) finished 17th with a time of 22:49, followed closely by Robyn Larrabee (Caribou, Maine) in 18th with a time of 22:51. Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) placed 21st, and Mary Shea (Brownfield, Maine) finished 30th to round out the top five finishers for the Mariners.
New England College's Abby Shafer grabbed the victory with a time of 18:59. Colby-Sawyer grabbed the overall team victory with two runners in the top three, and Fitchburg State finished second.
The Mariners return to action next Saturday, September 19th at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
