CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball fell to Green Mountain College on Friday evening, 78-61 in North Atlantic Conference action, inside of Smith Gymnasium.

The two teams battled back-and-forth in the first half, exchanging the lead three different times. The Mariners struck first on a jumper by Tyler Thayer (Hermon, Maine), and took a one-point lead at 7:46 following a 3-pointer from Zachary Radcliffe (Rumford, Maine). The Eagles built a seven-point lead with 1:03 remaining in the half, but Thayer hit a jumper with 50 seconds left to cut Green Mountain's lead to five, 40-35, entering the halftime.

Thayer led the Mariners with 13 points in the first half, while Mychal Parker secured a double-double in the first twenty minutes with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Eagles put together a 13-point run to jump out to a 69-49 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the game, and hung on for the victory.

Thayer ended the evening with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists, Radcliffe added 11 points, two blocks and a steal and Dylan Price (Madison, Maine) recorded 10 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist. Adam Richardson (Bradley, Maine) tallied a team-high nine rebounds.

Parker finished with a game-high 19 points and 17 rebounds, while tallying four assists and three steals. Javier Lugris added 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block and Thomas Brown recorded 12 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals.

Maine Maritime falls to 3-12 overall, and 2-6 in the conference, while the Eagles improve to 11-4 on the season, and 7-2 in the NAC. The Mariners host Castleton University tomorrow at 3:00 p.m., while Green Mountain travels to Husson University also for a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
