Box Score LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Five different players scored for the Maine Maritime Academy women's soccer team on Saturday, in a 6-0 victory over Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference action.
Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) connected with Morgan Libby (Brunswick, Maine) early in the first half to give the Mariners the 1-0 lead. Briana Obshatkin (Dedham, Mass.) dished out an assist to Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calif.) in the 19th minute to double the lead to 2-0.
Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.) added her team-leading eighth goal of the season on an unassisted strike at the 23-minute mark, and Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) picked up her third goal of the season to close out the second half.
Kelsea Anair (Richmond, Maine) found twice Hannah Somers (North Bridgton, Maine) for back-to-back goals early in the second half, the first of Somers' career. The Mariners held on the for the shutout, their fourth of the season.
Maine Maritime's Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) and Alice Van Kovn (Lancaster, Calif.) combined for the shutout in net, going untested during the 90 minutes of play. Lyndon's Johanna Sargent tallied an impressive 14 saves in net, in the loss.
The Mariners improve to 4-4-1 on the season and 2-1 in the conference, while the Hornets fall to 2-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the conference. Maine Maritime returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Johnson State College to take on the Badgers at 3:30 pm.
