Box Score CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy picked up a pair of North Atlantic Conference victories on Saturday, as part of a four-team NAC play date. The Mariners defeated Lyndon 3-0 in the morning and defeated Johnson State, 3-0 later in the afternoon.
Maine Maritime 3 – Lyndon 0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-16)
Tess Clark (Spring, Texas) led the Mariners with a double-double of 13 digs and 12 kills, while teammate Gillian O'Neal (Burbank, Calif.) led the Mariners with a match-high 14 kills and added nine digs. Sydney Adams (Trumbull, Conn.) led the Mariners with 19 assists and five aces while also adding five digs. Maria Perez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) added 13 digs, three assists and an ace.
Lauren McDonough led the Hornets with 12 digs, five kills and a pair of aces, and Gwyneth Stahl added 11 assists and 11 digs.
Maine Maritime 3 – Johnson 0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-7)
Gillian O'Neal led the Mariners with a match-high 10 kills, while also chipping in six digs. Sydney Adams tallied 13 assists, seven kills, three aces and a dig, while Melissa Spaulding (Fairbanks, Alaska) also tallied 13 assists and added four aces and four digs. Madison Barry (Stoneham, Mass.) added a match-high five aces, while also recording four kills, a dig and a block and Maria Perez and Hannah Butland (Cumberland, Maine) led the Mariners defensively with 11 digs each.
Breanna Laughlin led the Badgers with eight digs, two kills and an ace, while teammate Kaitlin Boucher and Laurel Hubbert-Severance had six digs each.
The Mariners improve to 12-5 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in the conference, while the Badgers fall to 2-13 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Maine Maritime will return to action next Saturday, October 8 at the University of New England where they will take on both the University of Southern Maine and UNE beginning at 1:00 pm.
