JOHNSON, Vt. – Senior Spencer Boonstra (Amston, Conn.) placed 20th overall at the North Atlantic Conference Championships to lead the Mariners to fifth place team finish on Saturday afternoon with a team score of 141.
Boonstra finished the 8K course with a time of 29:19.0, followed by teammate Chase Hughes (Westport Island, Maine) in 22nd place with a time of 29.37.9. Josh Richards (Westbrook, Maine) placed 30th with a time of 30:20.0, Victor Skorapa (Freeport, Maine) finished just behind in 31st and Paul Ferreira (Castine, Maine) rounded out the top five finishers for the Mariners in 38th place.
Colby-Sawyer claimed the Championship with a combined scored of 25, placing five runners in the top ten. Castleton University's Grandon Smith crossed the line first among the 101 runners, with a time of 26:22.4.
The men's runner-up was UMaine-Farmington, as the Beavers turned in an 87, while Castleton University was third (88), Thomas was fourth (128), followed by Husson (150) in sixth place, Lyndon (161) UMaine-Presque Isle (178), New England College (193), Johnson State (312) and Green Mountain (333).
Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday, November 5 at the ECAC Championships at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y.
